Mortal Kombat is making a major media stop at this year's PAX in Seattle. The conference got underway today and the first images are appearing on the major media outlets covering the event. Known to be attending are Kotaku and GamesRadar so far.
Joystiq.com released four new screenshots today featuring eight characters in various states of combat. Included is a screenshot of Cyrax performing a special move, possibly a redesign of his Saw Blade attack from Deadly Alliance. Not to be outdone, Nightwolf is showcased bringing down a green energy knife on Mileena. Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile are also featured.
A day after IGN released the "Shadows" teaser trailer for the new Mortal Kombat, WB Games has released an HD-quality non-watermarked version of the trailer. The trailer features several kombatants, seen only by their shadows (hence the trailer name), fighting and finishing each other. The music is Disturbed's "Another Way to Die", off of their fifth album. (Unlike Adema's "Immortal", this song was not created specifically for Mortal Kombat.)
IGN Editor Greg Miller has posted an exciting blog inviting players to join him in a private playable demo of Mortal Kombat in the Warner Bros booth at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) which begins this Friday.
Today Game Informer has released a new interview with Mortal Kombat creator, Ed Boon. Little new information regarding the game is discussed within the interview, but Ed seemingly puts to rest the rumored inclusions of both Friendships and Animalities.
GameSmith: It seems like there is a lot of buzz from the media and fans about this new reboot of Mortal Kombat.
Ed Boon: Yeah, there's this whole resurgence, retro thing going on. Street Fighter just recently had a lot of success going back to its roots. Sonic the Hedgehog is coming back. And now MK. So in a way I feel like the planets are aligned. We just happened to want to do a reboot at the same time. There's sort of a lightning strike situation going.
